Overview

The YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County is seeking a dynamic leader to grow programs, lead teams & shape impact. The Associate Executive Director of Operations at the YMCA plays a crucial role in overseeing daily operations, managing leadership staff, and ensuring high-quality programming while fostering community engagement and fiscal responsibility. Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and provides strategic leadership to advance the YMCA’s mission

Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations Management: The Operations Director is responsible for the overall management of the YMCA facility, ensuring that all programs run smoothly and efficiently. This includes overseeing staff, scheduling, and maintaining high standards of service.
  • Program Development and Oversight: They lead the design and execution of various programs, including youth and family initiatives, ensuring they align with the YMCA's mission and community needs. This involves monitoring program quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Staff Leadership and Development: The role includes recruiting, training, and supervising staff members, both full-time and part-time. The Operations Director fosters a positive work environment and encourages professional development among team members.
  • Financial Management: The Operations Director is responsible for adhering to the budget, analyzing financial reports, and ensuring that revenue targets are met. They also play a role in fundraising and community engagement efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Building relationships with community leaders and stakeholders is essential. The Operations Director represents the YMCA in the community and works to identify and meet local needs effectively.
  • Management: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management, preferably within the YMCA or a similar nonprofit organization.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field is often preferred.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and critical-thinking skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to new technologies are also important.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Posted Salary Range

USD $70,000.00 - USD $75,000.00 /Yr.
