Camp Counselor - Starfish

We are seeking reliable, fun loving, energetic and open minded Camp Counselor staff committed to working with youth for an incredible summer camp program. We are seeking those who are available for as much, if not all, of the camp season and training dates as possible. This is a grant funded camp located at the Kingston YMCA with specific summer learning loss prevention, healthy living, and service learning objectives. Candidates should be prepared to be enthusiastically supportive of program activities. Preference given to those candidates pursuing a career in education.

Camp Season runs 6/30/2025-8/8/2025. Mandatory training dates TBD in June 2025. 

Camp Starfish is operated out of the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County main indoor facility. 

•  Supervises a group of children. 
•  Plans and implements program activities that is culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. 
•  Adheres to program standards including health, safety and cleanliness standards. 
•  Attends ALL staff meetings and training. 
•  Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. 
•  Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. 

• Preference given to those candidates pursuing a career in education
• Experience with school-age children leading group activities preferred
• Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings
